Devon Delights

24th July 2013 By Claudia Turgut Leave a Comment

A big silence from me these past few days but there is a reason!

No internet, what a novelty after the easy availability in Turkey!

But here we are in the depths of rural Devon in southwest England and that’s the situation! No telephone, our own phones barely work, and no internet. Why it’s working this particular instant, I really don’t know so I will be quick!

Quick update re foot but all the family are here including sister Ali and her daughter Helen all the way from California, so no shortage of people to help me! But my foot is improving almost hour by hour and we are on the home stretch as far as being able to remove my clunky ankle support! Five more days!

But all of you who know this gorgeous corner of the country will know that food-wise, it’s famous, no renowned, for its cream teas!! Our Turkish SIL has now has had his first: scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam, served with a pot of strong tea! For the rest of us, it’s a well-loved treat that reminds us of childhood holidays.

A cream tea: the real thing in Lynton!

This was the view last night from the cottage at Bleggberry Farm where we’re staying: the sky was absolutely fabulous. You can’t quite see it but Lundy Island is in the background.

Beautiful, isn’t it?

Better post this right now before the internet connection fades!!
