Cooking Chickpeas in a Pan

Ingredients
  • Chickpeas
  • Water
Instructions
  1. Soak chickpeas overnight in plenty of water
  2. Drain the chickpeas, rinse very well and place them in a pot
  3. Cover them with water and have about 5 cm extra water above
  4. Turn heat on high and bring to boil
  5. Once boiling, turn down to a simmer and leave for 30 to 40 minutes
  6. Depending on freshness will determine how long they take.
  7. To test, spoon out a chickpea and run under cold water and try to squash it between your fingers.
  8. Once it easily squashes they are ready to be used in any recipe and salt can now be added
