I had to smile when I saw this tea towel ….. Daughter No 1 has just come back from a fleeting trip to London which included a quick trip to John Lewis …. here’s what she brought me…!!!
Nice present! I still cook some of those things, but I don't miss British food really. There's so much here in the way of delicious vegetables, herbs and spices, and other ingredients…always enough to satisfy my tastebuds!
Lovely! and very thoughtful of her to think of you ! – if you have any cravings from England, do please let me know, will bring over in Aug!:) xx Ozlem
What a real cool towel…but sorry the only thing I know is "Fish and Chips' which we have here. This was such a nice gift for a great cook like you. I'll tell you something funny…when my husband first came to Canada from Turkey I took him to this lil' Fish and Chips place which was run by a cute couple from England. Well, when you ordered the Fish and Chips (halibut)they would wrap the box up in newspaper……for years my husband refused to eat fish and chips, because he thought that wrapping up the fish and chips that they were dirty and cheap in newsprint. After I explained why the newspaper he orders it quite often for a Friday night dinner…and I thought that he just didn't like the dinner and he never said anything. Sorry for the long thread…I'm chatting away again.
I'll have to admit to the odd pang for bangers and mash but we do have some good friends who smuggle over Cumberland sausage on occasion. We Don't miss British food at all – one of the reasons we love being in Turkey is for the fab food – but it is nice to get a bit of stodgy British comfort once a year or so. 🙂
I do!!! 🙂 Especially your steak and kidney pudding – with real suet!! Great tea towel!!
i love that towel and everything on it!
Fish and chips are all I'm familiar with. That was so nice of your daughter!
