One last post on things French and how much more French could this be?
beautiful grapes just waiting to be picked |
We had such a great day in Vaison-la-Romaine. First our lovely lunch with Barbara from Cuisine de Provence, and then dinner with my old schoolfriend Susanne and her lovely husband who also live in Vaison. Susanne was kind enough to ask us what kind of wine we would like with dinner and I said well we are so happy with the lovely rosés, we would love to continue with that. Whereupon off we set to drive to their nearest cooperative where they usually buy their wines to get some rosé for dinner. Such a French experience! First of all you get a little tasting of the wine you intend to buy: literally a soupçon and you make your decision. We liked it and bought a few bottles. When you buy from a cooperative, the prices are unbelievably cheap. As we emerged from the main building, I saw a lorry arriving with a huge amount of dark-coloured grapes.

It was fantastic: I had been dying to see something like this. As we watched, more and more tractors and lorries arrived to deliver the grapes that had been picked during the day.
just wonderful! thank you for showing it!
